January 1, 2025 Enterprise enterprise internet security
Enterprise administrators can control whether and how the AI accesses the internet for features like web search and deep research.
Internet Access Settings
Internet access controls determine:
- Whether the AI can perform web searches
- Whether web-based research features are available
- Which external services the AI can reach
Configuring Internet Access
Organization-Wide Settings
- Navigate to Organization Settings > Policies > Internet Access
- Enable or disable internet access for AI features
- Configure domain allowlists or blocklists if needed
Team-Level Overrides
Some teams may need different internet access policies. For example, a research team may need full web access while a team handling sensitive data should have it restricted.
- Navigate to Teams > [Team Name] > Policies
- Set team-specific internet access rules
Use Cases
- Fully open: Allow all internet access for maximum AI capability
- Domain-restricted: Allow access only to approved domains and services
- Disabled: Block all internet access when working with classified or sensitive information
Impact on Features
When internet access is disabled:
- Web search tools are unavailable
- Deep research from the web is disabled
- Local features (document editing, data analysis, knowledge base queries) continue to work normally
