January 5, 2025 Advanced research local-files literature-review
Blast Office can conduct deep research across your local files — perfect for writing literature reviews, analyzing collections of documents, or synthesizing information from multiple sources.
How It Works
Local file research uses the same coordinated agent approach as web research, but searches your files instead of the internet:
- Knowledge Base: Your local files are indexed in a Knowledge Base
- Research Workers: Agents search across your indexed documents
- Synthesis: Findings are compiled into a structured report with citations to specific documents
Setting Up
Before conducting local file research:
- Create a Knowledge Base with the documents you want to research
- Add all relevant files — PDFs, text files, Markdown documents, etc.
- Wait for indexing to complete
Conducting Local File Research
- Start a new Chat session
- Select your Knowledge Base as a context source
- Describe your research task
For example:
“Write a literature review of these research papers, focusing on the methodology and key findings of each study”
Or:
“Analyze these project reports and identify common themes, recurring issues, and recommendations”
Use Cases
- Academic literature reviews: Synthesize findings from a collection of research papers
- Project post-mortems: Analyze project documentation to identify patterns and lessons learned
- Policy analysis: Review policy documents and summarize key provisions
- Competitive analysis: Analyze industry reports and white papers
- Knowledge extraction: Extract and organize information from a large document collection
